2026 Fuel Assistance: What Is It?
Since the start of the year, rising fuel prices have been putting a strain on French households’ budgets, particularly for drivers who use their cars every day. In response to this price surge, the French government has introduced a €100 subsidy for frequent drivers. According to Roland Lescure, Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Industrial Sovereignty, nearly 3 million French people are expected to benefit from this program.
Who is eligible for this subsidy?
Several conditions must be met to qualify for this subsidy:
- Be a resident of France and born before January 1, 2009
- Have reported income in France in 2025
- Have a taxable income of less than €16,880 per year for a single person
- Drive a combustion-engine or non-rechargeable hybrid vehicle (this includes cars, motorcycles, and motorized tricycles)
Mileage requirements also apply:
- For employees with a fixed commute: travel more than 15 km to get to your workplace
- For mobile professions (tradespeople, healthcare professionals, etc.): travel more than 8,000 km per year for work purposes

What steps do I need to take to receive this benefit?

Follow these steps:
- Go to impots.gouv.fr
- Verify the pre-filled income information
- Select the applicable profile (fixed route or mobile profession)
- Provide your vehicle registration number and the number on your vehicle registration certificate
- Confirm the sworn statement: no proof of mileage will be required, but checks may be conducted at a later date
- Receive the €100 payment within 10 days in your bank account
